Support to the formulation of a Solid Waste Management Programmer and development of a Regional Municipal SWM Plan for the Northern Region of the Kingdom and update of the Al Akaider feasibility study
The main objective of this assignment is assist EU/ LDK to design the Regional Municipal SWM Plan for the Northern Region of the Kingdom including the following key activities included:
- Data collection considering the SWM Sector in Jordan and particular of the Northern Region (Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash, and Mafraq Governorates) in terms of technical, legal, institutional, organizational, and financial aspects.
- Processing of primary data, assessment of alternatives, and development of the scenarios for improvement and optimization at the regional level (technical opinions). Primary data regarding the key characteristics of the current MSWM situation in the Northern Region are collected by all the Municipalities and the JSCs of the Northern Region using two types of structured questionnaires respectively.
- Updating the Al Akaider feasibility study.
The Northern region of Jordan includes 56 Local municipalities, 4 JSCs, and the landfill site of Al-Akaider. The assignment was conducted under the project titled “Support of Jordan communities in dealing with the Syrian Refugees crises” with contract no. 13.2298.1-005.00” service contract #. EuropAid/137-701/DD/SER/JO funded by the European Commission (EU).
